For any new builders upgrading memory, today I learned that swapping memory kits with XMP (EXPO, etc) enabled causes no POST on MSI motherboards for sure, and perhaps every motherboard.  I had to remove the new kit, reinstall the old kit, clear the XMP profile using the old kit, shut down, and install the new kit in order for the machine to POST.  I was free at that point to re-enable XMP.  The last time I had to swap memory, XMP and its ilk didn't exist, so you learn something every day.

Usually it will automatically disable XMP when you swap kits, even on MSI boards in my experience, so it more sounds like you ran into a BIOS glitch than anything.

Also just doing a Clear CMOS will also fix it if XMP doesn't disable automatically.

Clearing the CMOS is something you should do every time you add, remove, or swap memory. Internal timing registers change or needs to change. Clearing it is the only way..
