RESIZABLE BAR!!

Go to solution Solved by fheuowsfheuioasfhjoeasw,

Thought I should update in case someone needs this.

Bios version 4.50 for the asrock b450 pro4 (and maybe the b450m) seems to be buggy. updating to version 4.80 has fixed this issue.

I feel like I'm going insane running in circles.

Could be I have missed something simple and i'm an idiot but we'll see.

trying to enable rebar on my RTX 3070 msi gaming x trio.

i have a ryzen 5 5600, and an asrock b450 pro4 mobo.

I have enabled rebar in mobo bios by disabling CSM, Enabling above 4g decoding, and then enabling rebar support. this is after updating the mobo bios a while back to support my 5600.

i have updated my gpus vbios using msi's stupid live update tool to a version called 147 or 94.04.3A.40.90.

i am also using the latest game ready drivers version 537.13.

despite all this gpu-z and the nvidia control panel say rebar is disabled and must be enabled in the mobo bios.

it seems many other people have trouble with this specific card or the msi gaming trio cards in general.

thanks

I would start by buying an altar, large dagger, and a goat.

Ah yes technology is great when it works and a PITA when it doesn't.

As for the actual problem due to the small performance difference you might want to save your sanity and just let it go.

Otherwise I would go for the goat method mentioned above. Probably easier than actually fixing the problem. 😄

We'll Id look into youtube ppl who has same GPU as you, or people doing how to enable it in bios with MSI card. Just double checking some bullshit guides.

Reinstall Windows.

If you happen to have a secondary drive, you could try making a dummy OS to test it with the machine, so you don't have to purge your OS for what might not fix it.

Now hear me out, have you considered the fact that the way you're toggling 'Resizable BAR' in the UEFI/BIOS isn't actually enabling it? A lot of those first generation implementations were clunky, involving a slider, which its quite possible that its not functioning properly.

I would triple check in the UEFI/BIOS that option, including using 'simple' and 'advanced' viewing modes to validate it. If that's not the case, its likely something in the OS. In that case, are you running AMD.com version B450 Chipset Drivers? B450 Drivers & Support | AMD If so, then have you reinstalled them since updating the UEFI/vBIOS for ReBAR?

When I had 3060ti I just enabled above 4g decoding and set RasizableBAR to Auto.

I never touched CSM.

Have a look in Nvidia control panel>help>system information and check there to see if it active in there.

Also

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver?

Also I think on Z490 Taichi I had to have CSM enabled for it to work.

Yeah I just went to check as I started doubting myself and CSM is disabled 👀

It's been a while since I enabled it but from what I remember I had to uninstall and reinstall the GPU driver and everything just worked after that. I was on the latest bios which I think is 1.9 for me.

installing updated shipset drivers hasn't worked, checking and unchecking multiple options in the bios results in every 'requirement' in gpu-z to be fulfilled and un-fulfilled apart from 'resizable bar enabled in bios' like in the first screenshot. next ill try a fresh windows install on another drive
