Can't believe I didn't do this sooner! GPU shroud.

vong

Watched optimum tech's latest video a few days ago about 3d printed ducting for the GPU and CPU. I had this idea to do it a while ago but I guess I forgot about it. GPU has gotten quieter and is around 5-6c cooler now without changing any settings. I wonder if removing the GPU fans would make a difference?

Don't think I'll try making one for the CPU as it's already sitting under 50c while gaming. Probably took me 3-4hrs to design and went through about 5 prototypes for each half.

probably also helps with GPU sag!

The shroud on that GPU also overlaps the heatsink quite a bit right? to snugly fit around the GPU fans. Maybe try printing a new GPU shroud that opens the entire heatsink up to airflow from your case fans?

Awesome work by the way, i know this is 100% subjective but i like the way this looks.

About 3hrs total at 0.18 layer height and normal speed.

Definitely helps with sag. I didn't even realise it was that bad until I was mocking up the prototypes. Like easily over 5mm.

Oh, didn't actually think about that but yeah the gpu shroud does have a decent gap around the heatsink. May look into that when I have the time.

Thank you. I really like the chamfers. I was originally going to use rounded corners but then saw the GPU shroud had chamfered corners.

I guess there'd be a market for that, people paying for it.

I'm willing to swim against the current.

I plan to do this as well but investing into a usable 3D printer's pricy. Will have to wait and see what new comes up around 2028.

Yep, the X1. Got it before it was discontinued.

I might consider it if my case allowed it.  But most have a PSU directly under the GPU and don't have room for case fans on bottom, or maybe just 1.

Would have to work different designs that probably have less of an impact, but this one is perfect for that setup.  Pretty nicely done.
