I've been a fan of TechLinked since the moment it was announced on the Wan show.

Yes, I did strategically place items that let you know it's my shirt, not just a pic taken from someone's social media, if you have read my writings.   IF you have then you know I have been outspoken in criticism of and unsolicited advice offered to LMG.  An occupational hazard of my job I try to constructively criticize the work of young people hoping they'll do better.  As one who has written a blog which is sometimes carried as news by Google, and between it and my science work rated a google info panel of my own I say this from a place of knowing. I know on a small scale what this is all like.

It is OK if when covering breaking or developing tech news there are some mistakes.   As long as what you report is the best available information at the time of recording and editing, and you include corrections in a subsequent video, perhaps the next day, that's fine. Blogs do it.  Print media does it.  Even peer reviewed scientific journals, the most reliable sources possible, simply publish a list of retractions the next month.   We can't expect a YouTube channel to do better.

As long as the correct information is spread in the same manner as the incorrect information it is fine.

Mistake made in print means correction in print.
Mistake made in video means correction made in video.

CNN retracts stories on air.  So LMG retract errors in the next days video.   There my $0.02 as the "main character" of the universe who wants to see my Tech Linked.   It's ok if it is not perfect in real time as long as it is corrected later.

Apology in advance if moderation feels this somehow belongs in a pre-existing thread.  I just don't see how it would.

Trouble is in both cases, it doesn't work.

Most people will watch the original story but not bother watching the "correction".

Plus even if you DO watch it, you're more likely to remember the original information than the correction.

This is why the correction is part of the next episode OR it could be an episode that comes at the end of the week and is just about corrections.  There are history based channels which do just this.   Since new sources are found that change the information known to them.

Because if it isn't then its like computers were before online services.

We operate in a world beyond instant gratification with a short attention span. Its why very thumbnail from LTT is absolute cringe with clickbait titles. It only takes a second for misinformation to spread, so a correction only does so much.

We can all think of bits of information we heard from a reliable source that were objectively false and later corrected, but still remember or actively believe false information because it stuck.

Why is Tech Linked?

My brain reading this:

I wouldn't expect a video form any of their channels for a while still, even though we just got the update video two days ago. IMO, the more time they wait to come back (within reason) the better.

Everyone asks "where is TechLinked", but nobody asks "how is TechLinked". 😞

Uh I think LTT has a video about how they keep their tech linked.

(This is all humor like one would find in a episode of TechLinked.)

Didn't they just publish a video on Friday/Saturday? It's in the sidebar currently.

Yeah true... but they usually posted one by this time on a weekday.  I guess that they are taking more time is a sign that real changes are taking place.

Techlinked just was the least problematic thing.  It's the one kind of content where having to publish a correction a day latter in the next episode is fine.  Shouldn't hold a YouTube channel to a higher standard than we do for NBC or ABC.

You're missing the fact that not everyone watches every episode plus like I said, the casual user picking up information is not going to be looking for corrections, they're likely to watch one video on the subject and assume its correct, sadly.

For example myself, I wont be putting my faith in one source to begin with.  I'll be comparing to Gamers Nexus and picked up information in other places.  Or in the case of Tech Quickie where I often see them skim over important information I already know to be important, or get it wrong.  I really hope they stop trying to simplify things to the point of missing pertinent information, which they have been doing a lot.

You get to an important point

This.  I agree with this.  No one should rely 100% on one source.  That said the integrity of the source lay in it's dedication to being correct, and willingness to admit to errors.  To do so with as much gusto as it made the mistake and not take it personally.

Anyway finally got my techlinked fix and it was a good one.  I was jonsing.
