GPU options for iMac 2009-2011?

OCD-FREAK

can any one please list all supported GPUs for 27" imacs from 2009-2011? i want a cheap compatible GPU, and last question, is there a hack that allows the integrated GPU thats in a CPU to be used instead of the Discreet GPU ?

Which imac do you have because these are all entirely different.

And it wont be cheap or good.

As for what gpu. The ones it came with thats it. The cooling solution doesnr fit anything else

i have imac 27" 2009, 2010 and 2011, all need GPU replacement, I've seen many forums talking about possible GPU upgrades, i'm looking for a list of supported GPUs as they're interchangeable between these models

They aren't. They use mxm BUT the cooling solutions are bound to their generation. The only ones interchangable are the hd5750m and 6750m

The hd 6000 series has a 100% failiure rate so getting those isn't an option.

Did your 2009 come with the hd4670 or hd 4870m? Since the cooling is a bit different and the 4870 fits on the 4670 but not otherwise.

Same with the 2010 the hd5670m cooler doesn't fit on the hd 5750m. But the other way it does.

the 2010 5750m can go to a 6770m, 6790m or 6970m APPLE MODELS!!!! HOWEVER these all have 100% failure rates due to a manufacturing error and ARE NOT FIXABLE PERMANENTLY.

Is this for selling? if so sell as is and leave it be these aren't worth anything.

2009 stuff is dumped here for free and the others haven't gotten a update for so long they are basically useless.

As for the igpu. It can work but apple set it up to not do that if the mxm slot is empty. The core 2 has NO igpu. It will also even when forced in software not to try to jump to the dgpu in the 2010 an 2011.

Almost all GPU that using MXM III type A or B is compatible with MacOS is technically works. Including RX 6600(M) and older GPU such as GTX 650M (Clevo branded) etc. The only problem that this MXM module usually have custom VBIOS and wont communicate well with different vendor motherboard. I have 27" 2011 iMac (i7-2600/16GB/256GB SSD) running Big sur with DFI(?) branded AMD RX 5700 MXM module (the chip is desktop variant). I need to heavily modified both cooler and chasis mounting to get it fit, and I need to do install opencore instead of using original Mac Firmware to add GPU fakeid and running Big Sur properly. and I carefully selected the card that not exceeding the max power iMac motherboard can supply (usually 115-130w max).

If you don't want the hassle, you can get the original compatible module between those generation of iMac for plug and play solution.

You can check at everymac.com and see which GPU each iMac model utilized at each generation.

It's only these old crappy ones. They are either 50€ used or get thrown out when the gpu fails.

But on ebay they still go for like 200.

It's just that these are so far beyond their use and the 2010 and 2011 has known defects. That these lost their value and that is also why the parts are high. Since the ones that NEEDED to stay in operation had their stuff replaced already and many used parts were bought up.

So basically it's leftovers from the mass replacement period that are around for parts and thats it.

You can put some non officials in but you need to modify hardware AND software AND hope it works.
