Headphone pressure (balding)

calarahil

I currently have the Sennheiser 58x jubilee headphones they are alright nothing special. They're paired with the Schiit Stack magni and modi. My wife has noticed the headphones are rubbing my scalp and is afraid of balding. I've read a lot of suggestions one I've been trying is using hair gel to keep my hair up. I've been looking at the HE-5XX head phones on drop as an option I think the headband would place less pressure. Thoughts? I originally thought of going to the hifi forums but I didn't want to deal with elitist pricks. https://drop.com/buy/drop-hifiman-he5xx?searchId=0df720b12a70dddbe293779a101ea4b5

I have like 11 or so different headphones, the problem with using them long term for hours on end everyday is inevitable. The area where the band sits on my head is noticeable with minor hair loss and the hair being pushed down when the headphone is taken off.

I've found wearing a hat and putting the headphone over the top of that helps a little bit, makes the valley on your head less noticeable since your whole head is pretty much being covered by something. But because it's extremely hot here in Texas I've stopped doing that, I've opted to wear my aftershokz bone conduction headset(only running stereo not using the mic) if I'm not listening to music or playing a game now... doesn't sit on my head at all, no hair loss and no noticeable indention of hair.

That is interesting using a hat. I have a mv7 mic using xlr. I only really need the headset. I wonder if the 5XX have less pressure given that it's just the band and not also the plastic headband and foam like the 58x.

Hard to say really, depends on what sorta clamping pressure you can get on the cans itself. Gotta try them on haha.

Could always get a pair of Dekoni Nuggets to minimize the contact area.

Another idea is get headphones with a steel headband so you can add or remove clamping force.

I saw some headlines and/or quick video clips of full time gamers shaving their heads to reveal a divot in their head where the band sits, don't know if this is legit.
