What gpu to buy for 1440 and light 4k

Rawson

Looking to build a pc soon. Primarily play 1440 buy like to do some things in 4k. I’m looking for a card that would crush 1440. I know the 3080 is great, but the 6800xt is another contender. What do y’all think? Also 3070 ti???

rtx 3080 or rx6800xt

take whichever is cheaper. 3070 is 8gb for 1440 and 4k needs more than 8gb

in this thread they explained that you need more than 8gb for 1440p and especially for 4k

(if you can see link)

4070 is also quite good, 3080 performance level with less power and better RT/DLSS/DLFG, and 12GB (3080 has 10GB variant)

3070Ti is not really meant for 4K, lacks VRAM

A bit more expensive there's 4070Ti and 7900XT

System : AMD R9 5900X / Gigabyte X570 AORUS PRO/ 2x16GB Corsair Vengeance 3600CL18 ASUS TUF Gaming AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX OC Edition GPU/ Phanteks P600S case /  Eisbaer 280mm AIO (with 2xArctic P14 fans) / 2TB Crucial T500  NVme + 2TB WD SN850 NVme + 4TB Toshiba X300 HDD drives/ Corsair RM850x PSU/  Alienware AW3420DW 34" 120Hz 3440x1440p monitor / Logitech G915TKL keyboard (wireless) / Logitech G PRO X Superlight mouse / Audeze Maxwell headphones

Don't waste money on 3070ti unless you get the best deal of your life because usually any alternative in that price category is usually way better.

The 6800XT or 3080 is fine. I'd recommend the or 6800XT more if the prices are similar (or cheaper), assuming you don't need anything that heavily relies on CUDA or RT in which case go for 3080.
