new cpu help!

Go to solution Solved by i_build_nanosuits,

i usualy use my own settings but i feel like there is a bottleneck in my system but where? im having a hard time runing some games at max settings at 1920x1080 or 5760x1080

wich games?

and are they downloaded torrent autoinstalled games or legitimely bought games?

Your system should run them all to perfection except as i said some badly optimised single-threaded monster old tech online MMO's like ESO, planetside2 WoW

and some other indi games like dayZ (because all those games are Single-threaded games based on old game engine and they require Tremendous amount of processing to be done on a single core and even the fastest intel have a hard time running them at acceptable framerates, it's better but they still sucks..(not the CPU the games i mean))

I see you run a GTX680, this will allow for highest settings at 1080P but PROBABLY NOT the highest ANTI_ALIASING settings...you are looking at 2xMSAA or 4xMSAA in most modern games at 1080P....1080P on 3 displays, yeah some games you will have to tweek the settings...crysis 3 and metro LL require SLI of GTX 780 to max out..at 1080p

i got the fx-8350 with ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z and i want a new cpu i want PCI Express 3.0 so a intel upgrade but i dont want the i7-4770k since the price of upgrading for a few extra fps is not worth it so what can be the next?

i was looking at

i7-4960X since i heard thats a beast of a cpu

i7-4930K its better then 4770k and cheeper then 4960x

what do you guys think i need a upgrade i will see the changes on

im not gonna overclock since i dont have the fans or airflow to back it up im using Corsair h70 AIO watercooler

Cpu: intel i7 4790k    Motherboard: MSI GAMING 5   GPU:Nvidia GTX 980Ti   PSU: Corsair AX 760 PSU  RAM:Crucial DDR3 Ballistix Tactical 24GB RG  SSD: OZC Vertex 4 128GB  HDD: 2x1tb WD  Case: Thermaltake Level 10GT Snow edition!

What do you do on the PC?

It sounds like a 4670k might be a better choice

The upgrade from a 4670k is useless... They trade back and forth in games, and in certain games he would see a decrease in performance.

Honestly OP if you are just gaming on your PC your CPU is as good as it gets. I'd look into a new GPU instead.

But as of money right now i think thats best since its a 579$ cpu and i need a motherboard aswell

Thanks :) helped my choise alot

yes, and PCIe 3.0 won't make ANY difference for GPU's, PCIe 2.0 if way fine for even the highest GPU offerings as of today...

you will see a SLIGHT boost from pCie 3.0 only with something like an high-end PCIe SSD...but for GPU: Useless...

stay where you at OP unless you play only MMO's and single-threaded games.

EDIT: Seen your previous post: AUTO DETECT means nothing and it never is a good function to use: NEVER...set manual settings and see how it runs.

are you sure all you drivers are installed INCLUDING THE CHIPSET DRIVER FOR YOUR MOTHERBOARD?

Sometimes (often) nvidia graphics card user think they wont need anything AMD related so they don't have the AMD chipset driver installed and this hurts performance

A LOT in games...if you want to make sure get the latest catalyst and install everything.

LoL runs basically on a toaster. BF4 runs faster on an 8350 than all i5s and most i7s. CoD Ghosts I've never tried but I've heard that it's garbage.

You will likely see a huge benefit in BF4 with mantle so you might want to borrow a 290 from a friend and see how that goes.

League of legend does fit in the category of single-threaded games...it run's bad even on intel CPU's.

thanks for reminding me i dont have the catalyst driver installed right now just did a upgrade for win 8 so havent had time to download it yet :)

and thanks for the help of categorizing some of the issues i have had :)

wahhh man this graph cant be right i get a lot more frames than that 780ti (51-55.4) in shangai second assault ultra preset 1080p with my GTX780+8320OC...this 3770K+780ti should see at least 60minimum and 75 avreage...that's about where i'm at

with my pc...i think it's been commendited by mantle and AMD ! :)

No problem, i can tell you this: once everything is installed and running properly your CPU will handle anything you throw at it that won't fall in the ''i need tremendous amount of processing done on a single core to run at 25FPS'' category.

...now, that being said, some teenage intel fanboys will come in here for sure and try to argue me and convince you to get an intel chip, but they have had no first hands experience with those chip and have no idea what they are talking about, they've seen some old benchmarks of single-threaded games (that does run better on intel there's no denying that) and they all think AMD is garbage for gaming...this forum is full of that.

absolutely not, test has been done with overclocked GTX 780ti on this forum by users and the difference from PCie 2.0 vs 3.0 was less than 1%.

No current GPU can saturate the bandwith of the PCIe 2.0 slot...pcie 1.0 that's another story...

Not really, the game you mentioned sounds obscure to me. So more than likely the devs didn't even bother to add most CPUs to their auto detect parameters.

Doesn't mean the 8350 is an issue, just means the team that worked on the game is quite small.

Nano is also correct. PCIe 2.0 bandwidth still hasn't been saturated by GPUs.

This^ dont blame good hardware for s*** software.

absolutely not, test has been done with overclocked GTX 780ti on this forum by users and the difference from PCie 2.0 vs 3.0 was less than 1%.

No current GPU can saturate the bandwith of the PCIe 2.0 slot...pcie 1.0 that's another story...

hehe okay then i will finde the best comment from you and mark this as Solved Thanks a lot :)

AMD have chipset drivers, I think he's referring to those.

yes that's what i was thinkin.,..and they do come with catalyst...and as the previous poster was thinking ''NIVIDA CARD NO NEED FOR CATALYST OR ANYTHING AMD RELATED'' soooo many people make the same mistake and end up with AMD system that run's like crap cause they don't have proper chipset driver installed...that's terrible !

now OP !!!! it is VERY important for me to know, i know you choosed as the solution but it was the chipset driver that you where missing? i would like to be sure for future troubleshooting...

first of all sorry for late repsond dind't have any notification about a new comment on this topic

secound the catalyst drivers dindt do anything i could do before so not much improvments :/

third I went to pulling my whole pc apart finding a shitload of dust on my rad not surprising so i cleaned it of changed the thermal paste fliped som fans around got a little better airflow made a ghetto mod since my pc is under my dest the intake for the h70 pulled hot air from my 780ti so i mounted a 120mm fan on the outside of the case pulling the cold air to my cpu did a little overclock now im on arround 4,5 ghz not much but it helped pushed the fps up to above 60 fps in every game running 5760x1080 :)

so thanks :) could i get your skype? or any way to contact you? me and a friend are going to make a business fixing pc troubleshooting and so on would be great to have some1 to get a little extra help when we are stuck :)
