Uhd intel graphics over 60hz @ 1080p?

I've got a p106/igpu setup and i know nvidia card enabled or not, i can't go over 60 hz on windows or linux.

My monitor is supposedly able to support 4k and 120hz... but i just wanna try high refresh 1080p. Ive seen people with uhd 630 graphics get over 60 at 1080p, so i know its possible. Is there something im doing wrong? Z390 motherboard and generic hdmi cable.

I assume its the system in your signature we are talking about? if so your motherboard has DP1.2, which can only do 4k@75 and your board also has HDMI 1.4 which can only do 4k@30hz.

60 Hz or 60 fps? Because you can run games at >60 fps, even if you monitor can't display them (i.e. runs below 60 Hz)

The site for your motherboard lists the maximum supported resolution and refresh rate. The limiting factor can be the graphics chip, the ports available, or the cable. In this case, your ports are going to be the limiting factor before the UHD 630 graphics, and the cable might be the actual problem.

https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z390 Taichi Ultimate/index.asp#Specification

- Dual graphics output: Support HDMI and DisplayPort 1.2 ports by independent display controllers
- Supports HDMI 1.4 with max. resolution up to 4K x 2K (4096x2160) @ 30Hz
- Supports DisplayPort 1.2 with max. resolution up to 4K x 2K (4096x2304) @ 60Hz

The HDMI port should support 1080p 120Hz based on the HDMI 1.4 standard. However, if your generic HDMI cable isn't up to snuff, it might limit the connection if the UHD graphics and the monitor can't negotiate properly.

I didn't know a cable could effect refresh rate capabilities, i play at 1080p, and when i went to the asrock website the 1.4 hdmi info wasn't listed. Just display port 1.2 Vary good to know. Thanks. My pannel is supposedly 4k 120hz capable. Only specified that to empathise the 1080 id vary likely 120hz capable. Thanks.

Cable quality generally only matters at the high end, but if you have an ancient HDMI cable from the early days of the standard, or just a poorly made one, or one only rated for "Standard" HDMI, it may well not support the bandwidth necessary to do 1080p 120Hz. LTT did a big video a couple of years about HDMI cable quality.

Ive tried the hdmi that came with a ps5 and a "4k spasific hdmi". All still cap at 60.

8086k igpu alongside a p104-100 gpu. 8gb ram. Z390 taichi ultimate. ( my pc will power cycle loop if i use other ram slots. All other ram slots died. So i can only go 8gb for now). So how do i get 1080p anything over 60? Ive finally found "newer cords" to try. Ad its still not doing anything. my monitor is a tcl 120hz capable pannel. Even in windows. Same issue. It wont go over 60.

What drivers? Generic windows drivers, or the ones specific to your GPU?

i did some research, and it seams my pannel may of been falsely advertised as 120hz even tho it said 120 on the box.. so driver is possibly working fine after all.

on linux: standard nvidia driver

on windowss: intel driver and modded p106 driver
