Building My first PC

Budget (including currency): 1000 Dollars/ 7500kr

Country: Denmark

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Cyberpunk, Starfield, Fallout, Wow, Diablo IV

Im currently building my first PC with the help from Linus' videos, but im currently hardstuck on deciding on CPU/GPU combo. Im considering Ryzen 5600x + rx 6650xt, or Ryzen 5700x + rx 6700xt, with a price difference of around 170 Dollars /1050dk. How much am i losing out on, if i skip the extra 2 cores and the 4GB vRAM. Hope someone can help 🙂 Current Build below, and currently abit over budget ://

what resolution are you playing in? To save money g with a cheaper case and the cheapest 6700 XT available. If this is just for gaming go with a 5600 non x version instead of the 5700x and use the stock cooler that comes with the 5600.

My First PC
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
Cooler: Asus TUF Gaming LC240
Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix B550-f gaming
RAM: 4x8 GB Corsair Vengeance RS (3200 MHz, CL16)
Storage: 1tb Samsung 980 Pro
Graphics Card: Asus Dual RTX 2060 OC
Case: Deepcool Matrexx 50
Power Supply: Corsair RM650x
Headset: Razer Blackshark V2
Keyboard: Corsair K70 Pro Mini (Speed Silver switches)
Mouse: Razer Viper Mini
Only changes I have made is I sold the 2060 for $235 AUD and bought a Powercolor Red Devil 6700 XT for $400 second hand (it was barely used, think I scored a deal on Ebay with that).
I'm learning video editing and trying to get some cash as a high school student.
I like F1, my favourite team is Scuderia Ferrari and favourite driver is Charles Leclerc. Favourite track is Red Bull Ring in Austria.
Playing with a 1080p 60hz monitor right now, hoping to upgrade to a 1440p 144hz one soon.

Living in AU and that pisses me off since every event is late at night or early in the morning (almost every F1 race starts around 11 PM AEST time)

For current games, 5600X+6700XT is still a pretty decent combo, however going with 5700x certainly could be beneficial.

Future games will certainly utilize 8 cores, because consoles now have 8 cores, so game devs will build around that. How much you will miss out on is anybody guess, because it entirely dependent on the game's optimization.

6700 XT is on average about 19% faster than 6650 XT, that's a decent difference.

Places where you can save money now is use stock cooler, get cheaper SSD (970 evo in general is just overpriced). Cheaper case and get cases with fans instead of buying separate fans.

That PSU is somewhat low-end btw.

Just replace the CPU with 5800X3D when you want to upgrade beyond 4070 and 6800XT performance GPU.

Yeah, pretty much did what @Dukesilver27- says for your rule of thumb.

why 5600x and not 5600? Barely any performance difference and in some cases the 5600 is like $20-$30 usd cheaper. Also between the 5600 and 5700x the peformance difference is little but the price different is big, something like $50 usd.

Im Playing at 1080p, but good idea with the Case and possibly the fan. Im afraid of bottlenecking the GPU, but im not sure if that is actually a real thing with modern hardware

I was simply answering his question, besides I was obviously pushing for 5700X. Reason has been explained on my post.

Going 5600 with stock cooler would save me 600kr (around 85$) and get me in budget. How big an impact is it for gaming -i would suspect its mostly GPU based, but i hear ppl talk about bottlenecking, when used with 6700xt

There should be no/little bottleneck when paring a 6700 XT with the 5600.
