RAM speed is capped at 2400 MHz even though I bought 3600 MHz

Hello, I just found out that my RAM is only running on 2400 MHz (I've bought my extra RAM with 3600 MHz a year ago...). But now I wanted to ask how could I "speed it up"? I've read that I need to do it in BIOS and I already tried that but with my BIOS I couldn't find the option to set it higher. I found the tab "Memory Information" which only tells me it's running at 2400 MHz but nothing more. Is there a way to fix that or do I have to buy a better Motherboard?

(btw I also couldn't find XMP in the BIOS)

Did you take out the 2400 sticks? All the RAM in your PC will only run as fast as the slowest DIMMs you've got.

There might be something in the setup tabs, keep poking around.

Just note that your processor is only rated for DDR4-2666, so I wouldn't expect more than that.

What motherboard do you have? Usually this is the option labeled "XMP settings" but it can be not on the main page for some motherboards, since every vendor makes their own unique layout.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Its a Medion rebrand of ECS board. I cant find any of the info on it in ECS site, just this one ebay list.

I got the ECS Z370H4-EM Mainboard Z370, Chipset 1151

I don't know if that helps. Exactly the same as the one that @SorryBella linked.

I am not sure what the BIOS looks like then, you might want to attach some pictures. But, for more generic motherboards it is usually under a menu named "performance" or something

Oh, that might be it. I didn't take the 2400 RAM out because I wanted more ram. I will do it now probably that will solve it.
Thanks for the information I didn't even know that it's capped to 2666.

Thanks!

Also, with Intel 8000 series you're not loosing much with not running the fastest speeds the CPU can handle.

Thanks!

If this means you lose dual channel (as in only 1 stick) leave the old one in. Even tho speed is slower dual channel MORE than makes up for it
