for op, if ray tracing is seriously what you want, then sure nvidia at this point with the 4080 preferably but I guess the 4070 ti does it as well, but if it's just the occasion/sometimes to turn on ray tracing then personally I would go with the 7900 XTX

I agree, in rasterization it's like 30% faster according to TPU

In RT it suffers more but with such a better base perf I suppose that the only game where you'll have eventually less FPS in RT than on a 4070Ti is CP2077 as it has a way heavier RT than every other game. As an example my 7900XTX has same CP2077 RT FPS than my previous 3080 had, but +50% with no RT

Then the 7900XTX also has double amount of VRAM, 24GB to 12...which is a good plus even "only" at Ultrawide 1440p, a game like TWW3 reserves 14GB

It eats 20% more power tho, 350W to 285

With that level of performance I don't really see the need for upscaling

The real competitor for the 7900XTX is the 4080, which is equivalent in rasterization and better in RT, but more expensive ($1130 now)

Vs the 4070TI you could get a 7900XT, at $750 vs $800 for the 4070Ti

Hi Everyone,

I’m looking to buy a gaming pc, and am currently on the fence between the Nvidia 4070 ti vs the Radeon 7900XTX. I have heard that in non-RT titles, AMD is faster. Here is a couple of factors which keep me on the fence:

I want to play at 1440p and higher

I am interested in ray tracing

I cannot buy a more expensive gpu

The way I see it is that to buy the AMD would sacrifice ray tracing because of Nvidia DLSS and better RT on Nvidia RTX cards. A couple questions I have is:

How big is the performance margin with FSR 2.1 and RT and how will FSR 3.0 change things?

Which would be a better card for me to get, and should I wait a while for the rumoured 4070 super (releasing in 2023-Q4 to 2024-Q1)?

The 7900XTX is faster in pure performance, it does depend on the game and sometimes the 4070ti does pull ahead but not very often.  The 4070ti is faster in RayTracing and DLSS 3.0 helps a lot in supported titles.

FSR has come a long way and 2.1 is actually quite good now.

Its a tough choice. If you want RT then Nvidia is the way to go but you cant really go wrong here. There is no definitive answer here unfortunately.

Check this video out, you can see the 7900XTX pull a head quite comfortabtly in pure performance however.
