Realistically, could I get better performance currently for the money with AM4, then in a few years (however long) sell my AM4 stuff and build an AM5 when the price has come down more?

Yes, I guess, 馃槯

Basically how long will AM4 stuff still be applicable?

It depends a lot on your expectations. Me, I could easily go 4-5 years with that AM4 build.

I'm willing to swim against the current.

Oh ok, if it can last that long then I'm happy to go with the AM4 and do AM5 later then

I'd never go AM4 with such a complete build

And I'd go Micro (or Mini) but that's me.

Micro?

The main reason I chose the case I did was because a) I think it looks cool, b) because it would have extra space to work with because its my first build. (also the gpu is fairly long)

Yes, I know, going standard as advantages. It makes sense

Isn't there a mb better suited with USB headers for your case ?

Also, what did you mean by that?

And would the build actually work well?

It seems to me, I could make an AM5 build (here) with today's parts not much more expensive than your AM4 build (maybe lower specs cpu but not much lower perf) Which seems better to me

Imagine yourself in 2-3 years lusting for the new AM5 cpu...

Don't know for sure, not up to date. I guess

If the truth is that spending money on a new windows license is quite expensive. Go to a site of keys that have them cheap.
