I am wanting to upgrade my cpu from a R3 3200g to a R5 3600 but I don't know if I need to update my bios or not. I don't really know how to update a Bios, so I would rather not having to update it.
My PC specs are:

CPU: R3 3200g

GPU: GTX 1050ti (soon will be a RX 6600)
Motherboard: Asus a320m-k

RAM: 2x8 Corssair LPX Vengeance
Power Supply: Black 500 Coolbox (I will also upgrade it with the gpu)

They've both been supported since bios version 4801. So no, you shouldn't have to.

No, you don't have to update your Bios since both CPUs are from the same generation. If you had 5000 series CPU, then you have to update the Bios.

Main system: Ryzen 7 7800X3D / Asus ROG Strix B650E / G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO 32GB 6000Mhz / Powercolor RX 7900 XTX Red Devil/ EVGA 750W GQ / NZXT H5 Flow

Do you know how to go into your BIOS when you start your PC?  It should say the BIOS version that the motherboard is running in the top left.  If its 4801 or later you dont need to update the BIOS for the 3600.

The 3200g is actually picasso 12nm Zen+ and the 3600 is 7nm matisse+ Zen 2 arcitecture, they are not the same generation.

Wait really? My bad then. AMD numbering scheme is as confusing as ever

Very much so!  I dont fault you for making that mistake, I have done the same.  Very confusing indeed.. And now they have a 7600 CPU and GPU... Come on AMD!

Always use the latest bios. If it didn't fix something, it would not exist.
