USB-C cable confusion

Go to solution Solved by adm0n,

your laptop needs to support USB power delivery and displayport alt mode on that specific port. If it supports both, you're golden. But it can be pretty hard to figure out if your laptop actually supports them.

Dont really know where to put this, but I’m planning to buy a USB-C dock for my laptop and was wondering, if any USB C cable can power my laptop as well as transport DisplayPort to my dock. Or does it need PowerDelivery and a specific USB or even a DisplayPort certification?

Thanks ahead

And yes the cable needs to be PD+USB3, but usually the dock will come with a suitable one.
