Description:

I want to upgrade to Windows 11.

TPM2.0 is enabled in the BIOS, but Windows itself gives an error message

BIOS has been updated to the latest version so I have no idea why it doesn't work.

  • SecureBoot needs to be enabled and set to "Windows"
  • CSM needs to be Disabled

If CSM was enabled, you will not be able to upgrade directly. This is because the UEFI will emulate old the BIOS for legacy hardware support (which is what CSM is). BIOS can only interact with drive formatted as MBR, and UEFI can only interact with drive formatted as GPT. Windows 10 does have a tool to convert a drive from MBR to GPT called mbr2gpt. You can use the command line: mbr2gpt to directly use it. They are multiple guides on this forum and online to do this.

Here is one:

I had an issue with my Asus BIOS when I was doing the upgrade a couple of months ago.  On my Z390 board, you had to make sure when enabling TPM, to set it to Windows OS rather than other OS.  I had done a BIOS update that was supposed to set both secure boot and TPM but it did not set TPM correctly.  Once I changed the setting, Windows 11 updated from Windows 10 directly.  My system is Intel so I don't know if the AMD BIOS has this option.
