5700X cooling

Looking to upgrade from the 2600X to a 5700X but after some research it was suggested the stock cooler from the 2600X wouldn't be enough. I was suggested the Deepcoool AK500, its only a single tower. Would that be enough or do a need a dual tower cooler? Planning to run the 5700X stock, so no overclocking. Second thermal paste, what is everyone using now days? Id assume the cooler will come with pre applied, but some times thats not good paste.

Single towers are quite alright for the most part. Rocking a decent overclock on my current i7 on the ol' reliable hyper 212, and if you're not trying to push the absolute limit on that 5700X, the AK500 would more than suffice.

The ThermalRight Peerless Assassin 120 is a beast at about $40. I'd recommend that one.

But, keep in mind, the 5700X is quite energy efficient and almost every single tower 120mm cooler is more than enough to keep it cool and quiet.

Not sure where you get the pricing but on Amazon is closer to $60.

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.
