Is your gpu satisfying you?
example: if all you play is rocket league and cs go you’ll be fine. But if you wanna play more intensive games, maybe you should upgrade cuz the 4070s apparently 100 percent better

2 things. is your 2070 giving you enough fps? if so stick with it. if not instead of the 4070 get a rx 6800xt more vram and better fps

On the money bro

If your gonna upgrade to high refresh rate 1440p or ok 4K gaming then I would get the 4070

UNLESS you aren’t worried about rising energy prices in which case get the 6900/6950 xt

The power efficiency of the 4070 is pretty good tho. If they’re worried about rising energy prices then the 4070 is actually decent. If they’re not in Europe or uk tho then defo

In the real world the 6800 xt is actually 90 watts more. Not much more but still a bit, then again it’s their decision

i mean i used to have a 2080 coil whine was so so bad. then the vrms failed and melted my motherboard. coil wine is not amd excluseve and can affect different cards. but the 4070 might have less cus it uses less power.

Coil whine is normal and there’s ways to fix it

I’m pretty sure coil whine is based on the power delivery of the gpu from psu. Shouldn’t depend on gpu power

I might be wrong tho

then would the sound not be form the psu? i thought it was the power flowing through the card. again not 100%tho

I think it depends on the quality of the vrms on the actual gpu. It’s the same with bad power delivery on mobos. It’s not the psus fault, but the mobos

The 6800 xt would be a good gpu, or the 6900 xt

the 2070s is perfectly fine for 1080p gave my old one to my partner she is running it on her 1080p screen gets plenty of fps at intensive games. so honestly i would seriously suggest you keep it for another generation if you keep sticking to 1080p stick with the gpu.

Then return it, and get another one? There's such a thing as defective units. Nvidia and AMD both have them. There's no point in getting the worse card. Plus, afaik, AMD is better for linux anyways, and you said something about wine. If you are using MacOS, AMD works 1000% better than nvidia.
