hd598/595's, any higher and I'd say upgrade the stx.

the bass is pretty light, but they were amazing for gaming.

Will work for electronic components and parts

I would recommend the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 250 OHM version. You're gonna want a high ohm set of headphones to go with the STX. Beyerdynamic is an excellent high end pro headphone maker, and this is one of their most popular set of cans. They're super comfy and are freakin' bullet proof. The only downside, is that it has a huge ass, heavy coiled cable. which may be good or bad, depending on what you like of course.

If you wanna spend your entire budget, go for the DT-880 PRO's : )

DT880 Pro/990 Pro are good options too. The thing is they don't have the best mids it's V shaped. So the Bass is good and the Treble is good but the mids are meh. All DTs are really.

Ahh kinda ninja. Considering his budget is <$275 you might as well get more of it.

AKG701/702 you won't be able to fully utilize it using a STX. It doesn't have a large amount of bass to begin with and it's hard to amp so you'll have even less. HD558/598 are really easy to drive and are " warm " sounding. They don't have that much bass and the highs are rolled off. PC360 are little lower sound quality than HD558s and they have a mic. Modmic sounds great so you're better off grabbing that or a blue snowball. I don't know anything about a 7H :(. So honestly if you were to grab any headphones HD558/598 should be where you're looking at between those.

Shure 840s, love them, great response curve, and they sound great.

They were the second choice of headphones for the RHCPs AV guy (he ended up with Denon D2000).

I hear that people say there isn't much of a difference between the 598 and the 555 so should I go for a cheaper 555

555 timers are so cheap :) a few cents per chip...

jk LOL! About them both, it really depends on the individual. I've tried them and I find the 598 abit on the less comfortable side but that's just me.

Absolutely second Stav Kats' recommendation of the Hifiman HE-300, outstanding sound for the price. A lot of reviews say they compete with much higher priced headphones than the usual Beyerdynamics and Sennheisers. Though you most probably wont be able to try them out in a store anywhere close.

Could also look at the Sony MA900, the Audio Technica AD900X. If not the AKG Q701 should be pretty good.
