Hey guys,

I just want to ask about a gaming rig i want to build. Do you think it´s ok? What would you do different? or would you go with a different choice of components? I am just asking about your opinion.

So the idea is a Dual Screen (one for gaming and second one for basic stuff like internet etc. opened at the same time) small, good cooled, silent microATX build that could run any new game on decent fps and performance and won´t really need any update for the next 4-5 years in terms of games.

So here´s the build:

MOBO: ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3

CPU: AMD FX-8350 4GHz

RAM: 2x 4GB Kingston HyperX Blue, 1600MHz DDR3 with XMP

GPU: MSI AMD Radeon R9 270X Gaming 4GB 1030MHz

PSU: Cooler Master G650M, 650W, 80+ Bronze

HDD: Seagate Barracuda Desktop HDD.15 500GB (i will buy another at least 1TB HDD later when needed)

Monitors: 2x Samsung S22C350HS 22inch

Case: Cooler Master N200

CPU cooler: Corsair H100i with Noctua NF-F12 PWM fans, the whole thing mounted on the front panel

for the case cooling i´ll use all fan slots on the case(2x front, 1x up, 1x back, 1x side) and ill use the Noctua NF-F12 PWM on them

and that should be all that really matters. For like peripherals i´ll use some Razer DeathStalker keyboard, Mamba wireless optical mouse and Kraken Pro Black headset. Samsung DVD-RW and fot the thermal paste i´ll stick with Arctic Silver - AS5 - 12G. It should all cost about 1,400 € ( yeah, i´m a european) and my max budget to go with is additional 100€ so 1,500€.

So yeah, I want to thank you for your helpfull replies and have a nice day.

Well you need at least 970G socket. i.e. Asus M5A97 LE R2.0. You wont do much with 760G even with wattercooling.
I would go at least for R9 280. Simply stay with stock CPU cooler. OC as much as stock cooler lets you.
Give us web where are you buying from :)

idk, if i could play all the new games right now with at least 40-50 fps on high-med settings. It´s meant to be mATX, so not much space for 2X Crossfire or SLI, thought. Maybe i could go with better GPU then.

Yeah. If you want dual gpu on that board you're stuck with dual cards. Not ideal. You'd be better off just upgrading in like two years rather than waiting for five. Unless you get like a 780 Ti and just wait until new titles are giving you less than 40 fps... I dunno.

Total price inkl. Shipping = 724 Euros

This system should theoretically max out everything, and it's also pretty future-proof, and upgradable if you begin working w/ professional applications. Since it's so cheap you could add an extra 270x, or switch it for something like an r9 290/290x. The only problem is that you should probably buy the mobo from somewhere else, since webhallen is only located in Sweden, Norway and Finland.

Yeah. If you want beast performance (or beast performance now and still good performance in 3 years time without upgrading) you're kind of stuck with dual gpu cards, which are expensive.

ok, let´s say i want a good performance now, like playing battlefield 4 for example on at least 40fps and have a good performance in the future with the future games at least be able to play them :D ...

it´s a non-english site in my native language(slovak) so, sadly i don´t think it would be handfull for you.

Sorry I disagreed with what I said after I said it, so I edited :P

But what I did, because I was in a position 3 years ago to get a *very* decent PC and had no idea how long it would be until I was again in the position to upgrade, I just SLi'd 2 GTX 580s. They're still throwing out 60 fps (generally) for most modern games I've cared to play at 1080p. I won't want to make any assumptions about what the future is going to look like in comparison with current midrange GPUs, but that concept did work for me but it involved buying something which was, at the time, ridiculous and expensive.

In retrospect if you have a regular and steady income (which I didn't) then just saving up and upgrading now and again is the way to go.

yeah, it´s really possible I would be forced to go with a future update for atlest the GPU bcause it´s not really that grat CPU. SLI or Crossfire isn´t really a option bcause of the MOBO only supporting 1 GPU, and I dont really want to build a ATX build I want to keep it as smallest i can( not fancied into big gaming build) so it would reguire update in the MOBO part too. So yeah, i would probably have to go with a new GPU in the future.

1. 212 EVO or liquid cooling for the 8350; getting the U9B is pointless.

2. The CX750 is a bad choice for the price; get a Capstone 650W or G series 650W. You don't need 750W for a single R9 270X/280X.

3. At that price the build should have an SSD.

Ditch the dual-monitor setup and get a 770 or 280x with a better monitor. A 270x won't run that well in dual monitor config. Think about it: You get a 270x (~200$) with that 2-way monitor setup (~350$) (total 550$) and decide that you want another GPU. You gotta somehow return your 270x or just waste that 200 bucks and buy a new one. Or you could go with a 25 in monitor (~200$) and get a gtx 770 (~350$) and add another monitor down the line. It makes sense if you think about it.

yeah, good idea, i suppose. I want the second monitor, but it isn´t that important and could just be a thing to buy in the future.

Thanks everybody for your tips. I´ll make a different build using your tips and post it here.

Again, I don't mean to be picky, but do you have a use for 2TBs of data? If you do, then that's one thing. But a 1tb or even 750gb hdd is good enough. That extra money can be easily used for an SSD (like a 120gb or 256gb) or some other part.

It looks like a really good build, but I would recommend a FX 6300 or FX 8320 for the CPU and put more money into a better graphics card.

i was thinking about it to, as FX6300 is a CPU thats definatelly enough for today´s standards. I was also thinking about going APU site.

don't go lower than FX-6300 for modern games, it's the perfect CPU will run games for a long period of time and comes at a very interesting pricepoint.

will perform at about the same level as a core i5 in most modern games and multi-threaded workloads for less than half the price, can't go wrong with something like that.
