Can I *reliably* swap my OS drive form a 12thn gen DDR4 system to a 13th gen DDR5 one?

Yeah, So basically I'm just swapping the motherboard, CPU and ram to a newer version. Wanted to know if I could literally just pull the OS drive out then install it in the new board. Can I do this without everything shitting the bed? or at least without complications?

yea there wont be an issue

beside drivers

no, reinstall the new drivers
examples:

chipset

cpu (if theres integrated graphics)

check for firmware updates or ram

BIOS updates (this one first)

Dont forget to mark as solution if your question is answered

Oh ok, yeah all of that is pretty much a must by default. I thought there would be some extra driver gotchas. Right then, seems my worries were unfounded.

yea indeed, fun fact i litteraly just popped my laptop nvme into my first build pc and no isues beside drivers

 

remember to use DDU tho

that'll work fine. just run Windows update once you've done it, that'll install any needed drivers.
