Option to add country flags next to username and profile pic in posts

emothxughts

I'm sorry if this has been suggested before, but may I suggest adding in the option to display country flags next to the username and profile pic in posts, like they do in overclock.net forums? This could help to identify where the poster is from, so that one can tailor replies according to where they are from. This is especially helpful in hardware recommendation threads, so that one can recommend hardware based on the pricing & availability in these respective countries, instead of defaulting to prices, availability and stores in North America.

Of course, for the more privacy minded people, there should also be an option to not have a flag display.

I like this idea, but they used to have a spot for your country of origin, and they got rid of it. So. I'm sure they have their reasons.

I like the idea of having a separate flag spot...maybe below the username more though.

Being able to see where someone is from is useful as people often fail to mention where they're based when asking for help or links to products.

There used to be a spot for it under your profile picture. Flags would be nice, but would probably need a hover over feature to show what country it is if you don't recognise the flag

You can do that yourself. 🇫🇮🇩🇯🇬🇷🇬🇬🇪🇨🇩🇪🇰🇵🇲🇬🇳🇬🇲🇷

True, but it'd be easier if there is an option I suppose

Just either under your name, down-right of your pfp, who knows

I sometimes wonder how we went to space on only 4KB RAM, and we cannot fix a simple issue.

The location was moved away from profile pic section of post with UI update. Same update removed custom member titles. Another UI update brought in badges that add no value. So with UI changes we mainly in mercy of IPS (forum software developers).

I would prefer location field to come back.

But in reality, having either most likely wouldn't help as much as you might expect. As this would need to disabled feature when joining, most new members still wouldn't state their location when asking questions. I mainly see this issue with people from US and when they state price point (sometimes without any currency, sometimes just dollars).

I agree with this.  Though I suppose one could use some simple picture editing software to add a little flag icon to their profile pic.  IT would just be a pain to add it every time one changes their picture.  It would help US of A users to remember not everyone is in the US of A

A big part of this is America F Yeah centrism.  Part of the reason for that is that USD are the currency of international trade. PC parts are priced and traded in dollars like they were light sweet crude, pork bellies, or frozen concentrated orange juice.

I doubt that plays role in this. When someone asks for PC build for certain budget, they are looking at price in local store. Not how much pure silicon costs to factory. And it's big difference when someone says budget is 2500 vs $2500 vs 2500usd.

It's easy to pick out non-US posting when it matters, otherwise everyone just converts to USD since that's what everyone else expects and it's easier to just talk in terms of the price people who will help you are using.

other than that idk it will probably just be used for shitposting more than it will be useful
