Does anyone why my computer keeps shutting down while playing a game

insomnialtt

Ok so basically, I just upgraded my computer with a new cpu and motherboard and started having this issue shortly after. Every time I try to play a game, the computer will just automatically completely shut down and restart. At first I thought it was the cpu overheating but i mean i have a cooler on it, and I ran cinebench multiple times to no affect. I even ran 3dmark to see if it was a gpu issue, no luck. But this ONLY happens when playing a game. Lately I've been trying to play Dead By Daylight (which is not a difficult game to run at all) and I can only seem to play for like 5 minutes before shutdown. But when I load Halo Infinite (max settings btw) it's completely fine. btw the problem is on others games too, not just DBD. Maybe its a psu issue? It can't be overheating because I literally have a monitor there to see the temps.

I really hope for some odd reason your temps are in F and not C. If those temps are in Celcius the computer should have long shut down.

System specs?

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

Is this a completely new build? The storage is new? Did you happen to move old drives into it?

Odd. You could try running DDU and clear out hidden display drivers? Have you tried doing a System Reset in Windows?

This isn't necessarily your issue, but I had a similar problem a while back where the computer will shut down while playing games. After a while, it even started shutting down while watching YouTube videos and eventually it started shutting down even while not in use.

The issue turned out to be the PSU.

Since it's restarting and turning it's self back on, what shows up in Event Viewer?

Out of curiosity, did you move storage over from your old build? is Halo Infinite by chance on a different drive than DBD?

that's what I think it is too, everywhere I look online they list psu problem first and its not a overheating, software, gpu, wiring or actual electrical socket issue. ironically, the moment I have this problem, the Lian li sp850 is sold out everywhere, amazon, micro center, new egg. Everywhere. I reached out to LIAN LI support and I got an RMA but it won't ship out for the next 25 days. PAIN. I bought a used psu from amazon before they sold out so hoping/praying to god that it works. but if a different psu doesn't work, im literally at a loss.

all my games are on the same drive (hdd), even used seagate's diagnose software incase it was a hard drive failure. came back perfectly fine

Then I'd be looking at the power supply too.

If you lock the voltage on your graphics card lower than stock will it last longer in DBD?

im trying with Final Fantasy 15 right now (same hdd). before I couldn't even load into the game without power cutting out. went into afterburner and lowered the voltage curve down 350. actually was able to load into the game and free roam. I think its a psu problem
