But why? It's more logical to just go for the product that's the most bang for you buck within your budget/price range... Whether NVIDIA or AMD. It doesn't matter. Pick whichever side has the features you want, and then pick the product that's the most cost effective within the budget. Done.

Sometimes it is a bad experience that ruins on team over another. Weather it be software or hardware or compatibility those things can ruin one team for you.

I chose my 290 as I wanted an upgrade and it is cheaper than a 780, that was it really. ( Or was cheaper at time of buying)

Having brand loyalty is nice, but price/performance should always win.

Favouring a brand of GPU (Gigabyte,Asus,Sapphire) etc, I can kinda understand more as the overall cost is never usually much different, but over the actual maker, I think Price/Performance should be the main deal.

For me, it almost always be an AMD GPU for the simple reason of price/performance. Here in Asia, AMD are always cheaper than its nVidia equivalent cards since nVidia always, ALWAYS, carry a price premium. For almost the same price, I can buy an R9 290 instead of a GTX770 2GB (cheapest R9 290 is a PowerColor at 549 local dollars vs a Leadtek GTX770 2GB at 489 local dollars with the 4GB version priced at 545 local dollars). A typical R9 290X costs about as much as a GTX780 whilst the GTX780 Ti is priced way above them, with perhaps the expensive MSI R9 290X Lightning being in that price range.

I'm not saying I will always stick to one brand, I've been known to buy flagship nVidia cards (or near it) as well simply because I know that they can be better at a feature or two that I want. When I got my Zalman ZM-M240W for S3D gaming, I'd gotten a GTX560 Ti for it, I found it to be a good experience. So, when time came for an upgrade, I went with an FX8350 + 2x GTX670 build (my 2nd rig) and I can max out just about all the games I play even with S3D enabled. Within the nVidia control panel, there's a Zalman 3D display setting. AMD wasn't the way for me as AMD suck at S3D leaving it to 3rd party software programs which can be somewhat of a hassle.

Ultimately, I support AMD simply because the have better price/performance value, and because I have had no bad experience hardware or software issues with them.....so, my experience with them is quite positive. That's why, whenever I read of someone buying an AMD card only to post complaints about it due to this or that, I'd be scratching my head in puzzlement. I also believe that for the good of the gaming industry, and to keep nVidia in check, a strong competitor is needed. Let me put it this way, would nVidia have lowered the original price of the GTX780 IF the R9 290 series wasn't released? nVidia boys are quite fogiving when nVidia does it, but are quite vocal about the price of AMD cards at the height of the Cryptocurrency mining craze......I don't think price of AMD cards then were the fault of AMD. They had set the MSRP, I guess either their board partners or retailers pushed up the price. Price of AMD cards have since more or less dropped to normalcy in the US though it wasn't really a factor here in Asia.

AMD for price/performance, and the fact that their business practices are more in line with my values and the direction in which I would like to see the gaming industry progress.

That's just my preference, before I switched I used Nvidia so I am aware that they too make solid products..

my travel to the world of AMD start with intel (yea lol, i know), they disappoint me

and what make me more mad was the fanboys of the time, that defend intel to death, when i did do my own test

and they fail

then comes nvidia, with "the same" mentality

and i find the software crap that they put in all they do (don't ask)

and i hate him

AMD is in my heart, ForEVER  B)

APU = A10
