Did you ground yourself first, or wear an anti-static wristband while working with the motherboard?

You may have ESD'ed the motherboard. The only advice I can give is to get a plaster.

If you didn't just absolutely repaint the board with blood then you should be fine, just make sure it isn't connecting any exposed metal pins/whatnot on the mobo.

Are you sure your mobo came with a back-plate? If it isn't in the box and just cant be found you need to contact the seller/store/place you bought it from.

Case Bitfenix Ghost, Mobo Asus Maximus VIII Ranger, CPU i7 6700K @4.2 Ghz cooled by Arctic cooling Freezer i30, (barely). GPU Nvidia GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 @1519Mhz core, RAM 16Gb Crucial Ballistix CL16 @2400Mhz. SSD 128GB Sandisk Ultra Plus as my OS drive. HDD's  1TB  Seagate ST31000524AS its OEM, 3TB Seagate Barracuda, 2x 500GB WDC Blue (RAID 0)

If it isn't working absolutely perfectly, according to all your assumptions, it is broken.

so i didnt damage anything right?

I am pretty sure you didn't, unless something came off the mobo, or you saw a spark and heard a zap. Just get on with the installing and find out, if it is broken RMA it.

Clean any blood from circuits before connecting power to it. Blood has some iron so it may conduct electricity. Otherwise should be no problems. If blood has dryed, you can gently scratch it off with soft paper towel. DON'T USE ANY liquid.

And yeah, no backplates in general for motherboards. Backplates are used for cooling like with GPUs and CPU coolers.
