I believe people like 1440p over 1080p due to the pixel density. As mentioned in the newer short circuit video on the Amazon basics monitor the general rule of thumb is you want around or more than 100 pixels per inch (ppi). So running with a 24 inch monitor at 1080p (92 ppi) is fine. With a 27 inch, 1080p (81 ppi) is okay (that’s what I do) but 1440p (108 ppi) is generally preferable. Any larger than 27 inch you would ideally want to be 1440p or 4k (163 ppi @ 27in).

Personally I’d go 1080p at 144hz. I looked around on google and came across this video that shows you how the performance differs at resolutions for the cpu and gpu combo (ignore the i9 stuff).

Remember, you have to always take videos like this with a grain of salt as different motherboards, ram, newer drivers, etc can affect performance but can give you a rough general idea of what to expect.

If someone actually does this, they have no life or their life is so sht that they need to sht on someone else's to feel better about themselves.

There's nothing wrong with 1080p, yes with your current level of hardware, you could play in 1440p somewhat comfortably, you're only missing out on high picture fidelity. That's it, it's that big of a deal.

I'd say, save up a bit more, until $300 and get a decent 27" 1440p 165hz monitor, don't cheap out on a monitor, it literally affects how you perceive the game you're playing.

Yeah no forget what people say, with your spec id say its fine to shop 1080p even if it can do a lot on 1440p scenario. But yeah, high quality 1080p240hz experience sits at that 300$ @Dukesilver27- mentioned, XG250 by Viewsonic and GP700 series by LG is one of a good shout for that. But yeah that depends on what you play exactly here, if you are playing semi-competitive or high paced games like CS, id definitely take the motion clarity over resolution all day.
