SSD issue: Current transfer mode is PCIe 4.0 x2, when it should be PCIe 4.0 x4.

The normal thing would be to think that the motherboard is not compatible with PCIe 4.0 x4, however it is compatible. Additionally, the processor is also compatible with PCIe 4.0 x4, so I have no idea where the problem lies.

 

I have looked in the bios for an option to change from x2 to x4 but it does not exist.

The components I'm using:
SSD: Kingston KC3000 1 TB
Motherboard: B550M DS3H AC (rev. 1.0/1.1/1.2/1.3)
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5600X
Graphic card: RX 6600

 

Update: The M.2 is placed in the M2A_CPU slot, so I think the problem may be on the motherboard (factory defect) but it would be very rare.

which slot did you put it in on the motherboard?

 

1 of the 2 m.2 slots (the one that is further from the CPU) on that motherboard only support x2.

In the M2A_CPU slot, the one closest to the CPU and just above the PCIE x16 slot.

Do double check it by running some benchmark, what speeds are you getting, CDM, or as ssd, for example.  
 

i would try to reseat the M.2 and the CPU ( if it's really x2 )

I have reseated the M.2 and the CPU, but the issue persists. Someone suggested that I try the M.2 on another PC to see what it reports, which would undoubtedly clarify the problem. However, all my acquaintances only have PCIe 3.0 motherboards. In any case, as soon as I manage to figure out the problem, I will report it here.

The PCIe 3.0 would do. The problem is that we see only 2 PCIe lanes working.

Update: I bought an M.2 to PCIe adapter and these are the results I got:

So the SSD is OK, all 4 lanes work on adapter. 
So it's motherboard, or CPU, or socket pins.  So not good news, as you already resited the CPU, and M.2. 

Any UEFI update?

No, I have the latest version installed: F17a.

any luck ? I have a similar problem using a Samsung 980 Pro with a B550m Aorus Elite,  mine is even worse since it is working at PCIe 1.0 x2
