frametime stuttering issues after upgrading RAM

i built my pc a year ago now and earlier this month i finally got around to upgrading my RAM- i went from 16gb to 32gb. i did this partially to prevent frame dropping/stuttering in a particular game. as far as i've noticed, performance has generally improved- except in that particular game, the stuttering has actually gotten worse, to the point where it's rarely even playable (it's a rhythm game so timing is a huge deal).

after getting a bit of help from r/pcmasterrace, i have enabled xmp (which only helped a small bit) and i have utilized MSI afterburner to get a better idea of what the issue is- and i found that the frametime stuttering seems to coincide with strange behavior in the graphs for most of my cpu clocks, as shown in the attached images.

https://i.imgur.com/h1cdxEQ.png https://i.imgur.com/F7O0saI.png

the first screenshot is what the activity normally looks like, and the second screenshot shows what happens when the frames stutter. the region that looks sorta like a chunk has been cut out is the same region where the frametime stuttered. i imagine this is an issue of RAM timing or something like that, but i really don't know what else to make of this. anyone know what to do? i'd really like to play my game without worrying about stuttering again.

new ram: kingston fury beast 32gb, DDR4 3200, CL 16, model RFBB14-32C16K2/32

P.S.- this pc is also my first build so i'm not an expert, but i know a decent amount.

If I'm seeing it right, it looks like the CPU clock is going up when the stutter happens. Something is using CPU at that time. Leave task manager up if you can sorted by CPU usage. See what is using CPU at that time. Otherwise it looks like the game isn't very demanding as the CPU clock graph is very spiky unless it is on other threads not shown there.

The CPU clock speed changes can mean any number of things such as  tabbing out of a game to simply a high CPU demanding part of the game. I think it would be more beneficial to run a on screen display and pay close attention in real time to: Ram speed, GPU usage, CPU Usage, Temperatures, ram clock speed, cpu clock speed in corralation to stuttering.

You mention the stuttering has not improved but that is totally normal if you weren't actually using a full 16 of ram which most people don't do when gaming unless they have a lot of background processes.

I just took a better look at the graphs...

Are you saying your frame times get worse when your CPU frequency fluctuates less?

That would make no sense.

Also, how are your temperatures behaving in idle and under load?

so when i tried having task manager open while playing the game the other day, the game suddenly had no issues. then when i played without the task manager, it was still totally fine, even after i improved the graphics settings and everything. so, after a couple days of testing it... i guess it just?? fixed itself?? i have no idea how but. yeah i still get very minor stuttering every so often but nothing that ruins the game like before. huh
