I am moving into a new house in October. I am also currently saving my money for a gaming PC. I am going to wait until I move into the new house to start buying parts for the new PC. I will not be taking my current system with me as I am giving it to my parents. I currently have a ASUS AMD Radeon HD 7850 2 GB graphics card in this computer. By the time Ocotober rolls around and if I want a higher end build, should I use my current graphics card for the new build or upgrade to a more powerful one when I build the new PC?

Your current one will work perfectly fine. Not maxing everything though. It depends on your total budget.

I would say upgrade. Depends what kind of games are you going to be playing?

Right now I am playing World of Warcraft, League of Legends, Titanfall, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. I will more than likely be playing any of the new FPS games, like the new Call of Duty game, coming out later this year.

I don't plan on spending more than $500 on the graphics card.

Just read his post, omfg

 Seriously? It couldn't be more obvious that my point is that you're assuming a hell of a lot to say that the GTX 880 will both be out by October this year (when most sources guesstimate it to have been put back to next year) AND that when it's released it will be within OP's $500 budget, let alone to suggest buying two of them. That is ridiculous.

Those games are really not that graphics intensive. But yea upgrading might give you the benefit of more frames, and a leeway into the future for other games you might be interested in playing.

All of those games (Except maybe Titanfall, I haven't played it on PC so I'm not sure) mainly require a good CPU to play well. A 7850 is more than adequate for those games, so just make sure you get an adequate CPU. Remember, if you have a GPU bottleneck, you can always lower settings to gain an insane amount of performance (which I really doubt you'd need to do with any of those games) but if you have a CPU bottleneck, you can't always do that, so keep that in mind.

Previously Trogdor8freebird

5800x | Asus x570 Pro Wifi (barely enough for 64GB apparently given it's 2133 and still crashes sometimes) | 64GB DDR4 | 3070 Ti 8GB | Love that whole weeb shit

I plan on going with the i5-4670k or i7-4770k. Well, that's my plan right now. I'll just have to see what comes out between now and October.
