Posted March 15, 2023 Wondering which SSD is the best for expanding the storage on a PS5? I'm looking at the WD Black SN850X as well as the Crucial P5 Plus, both with a heatsink. The biggest differences I've noted thus far are price and Read/Write speeds. While the WD Black has a 7,300MB/s read, the price is $110 (US) for 1TB. The Crucial P5 plus is $134 (US) for 2TB, but says the max read is 6,600MB/s. Will that 700MB/s make a substantial difference? I've used crucial in three different laptops to upgrade RAM and have not had any issues, so their products seem solid in my experience. Guidance would be appreciated, thanks! Posted March 15, 2023 There's been some testing done with slow and fast drives in the PS5 that's found that drive speed makes basically no difference in-game, even down to ~3500MB/s.
