Can google fiber even be used in full

Ok so i know that google fiber gets around 1bg  up/down but wouldnt you need a ssd to even be able to half use it. so most ssds have a 500mb read/write speeds, correct, and if google fiber is 1gb up/down then wouldnt your ssd need to read/write 1gb per second. if this is correct the isnt google fiber so overkill that you cant even use it. execpt for massive bandwith use

I can imagine it being useful for when LinusTechTips does PC builds, and he is uploading 50 minutes of compressed video, THEN that will be nice.

It's gigabit, not gigabyte. 8 gigabits is 1 gigabyte. 

 

It would have to be a more than a 6 gigabit fibre connection to cause a bottleneck on the storage side.

Google Fibre was going to roll out a 10 gigabit connection in places, weren't they? You'd need SATA Express to fully use that, too.

You guys have to remember that while browsing the web and downloading files, it's buffered in RAM, which is much faster that 10Gb/s.
