Should I buy faster ddr4?

I’ve got a 12700 on a b660m ddr4 motherboard. The impression I got is that I am effectively limited to 3200mhz by the cpu.  This may not be true. I’ve got cheap ass memory. 3200mhz 16-20-20-40.  Cost me about $60.  I could get some sort of cl14 memory ranging from 14-19-19 to 14-14-14 for somewhere between $150 and $263

 

should I bother?

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.
