thats normal, its a spring...

This is a normal occurrence. As long as you know that the CPU is lined up correctly, you're fine. Good luck.

The tension arm pressure is completely normal. Don't worry about it.  :)

Good to know, thanks guys

Me: Yeah I just really can't get my H220 working again, I've tried everything that was suggested in the forum.

Brian (Swiftech Support): Hmm, have you tried slapping it?

Weird.. I did not get the crunching sound when I installed my 3570k. :)

I did four builds using 3570k and all did the crunching when putting down the tension arm. I contacted Intel and they said that is normal. They said the sound comes from the hold down brackets on either side of the CPU sliding on the IHS of the CPU while putting the tension arm down.

Haha ^_^ I remember being scared about this too...

I was afraid I'd killed it. Especially when my computer started beeping the first time I turned it on and then it turned itself off (Turned out I had forgotten to plug in the pump of the H50).

But everything was as it was supposed to be.
