Western Digital My Book Studio Edition II 2 TB (2 x 1 TB) - upgrade options

Hi,

I am a longtime owner of a trusty Western Digital My Book Studio Edition II 2 TB.

Unfortunately space is starting to run out and I am looking to replace the two 1 TB drives with two 2 TB drives.

My Google searches lead me to believe that I must use two identical drives as replacements, which should ideally be Western Digital greens as well.

Can anyone tell which drives are known to be compatible with the enclosure?

Thanks in advance!

Ron

Give the age of it (USB 2.0? ouch), I would really recommend a brand new device, like a 2-bay NAS. Much more freedom and utility.

Hi @AbydosOne,

thanks for your feedback :).

I am using FireWire 800 to connect to the drive and never transfer more than 10 GB at a time.

Getting a new device would therefore be overkill for me.

Cheers
