Strange GPU Usage - SpiderMan & 3DMark

Seeing some weird Performance issues recently in Spiderman, which then prompted me to run a Timespy run, wanted to see if any of you have any ideas (maybe im just being stupid)

Specs:

  • 12900k @ 5Ghz
  • RTX 4080
  • 980 Pro
  • Win 11
  • 3440x1440
  • No upscaling (in SpiderMan)
  • Corsair DDR5 @ 5600 MT/s
    • XMP is enabled

SpiderMan

  • When swinging around the city my GPU usage can range from 50%-80% which to me would say CPU limited but really? On a 12900k? Even with RTX disabled?
  • Weird thing is as soon as I go inside or a cut scene starts my GPU usage jumps to 95%-99% and can hit FPS 150+
  • Tried disabling Hyperthreading which I think helped marginally
  • Web-swinging I get sustained drops down to mid 70s which on this machine I would regard as lower than expected (this is with RTX enabled though, with RTX off it goes to about 80s)
  • On task manager looks as though the CPU is hitting 100% but that’s kind of mad

TimeSpy

  • Scores
    • Overall: 26,260
    • GPU: 28,508
    • CPU: 18,151
  • See Attached images
  • In the Demo portion of the run GPU usage drops to as low as 40%
  • For both Graphics tests the load is at 100% constantly

Am i missing something in my set up here thats holding my system back? or is this expected behaviour?

Thankyou in Advance!

Your timespy score is above average (3D mark timespy results) . what Fps you are getting on 4K. is the Issue presists in other games. I think it is common Thing with spider man being cpu limited. I found this on yt

the cpu is 5800X3D and it is also giving similer frame rates as you mentioned

12900k *is* i9, intel's branding is fairly redundant, it's extremely rare (to the point it might be mistakes..) that a number notation overlaps between the i3, i5, 7i, i9 categories.

What 12900K is i9 You dont understand the intel naming or something If thats the case you should spend some time reading this https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/processors/processor-numbers.html (You could watch videos about this topic also)

geez no need to be so agressive with it
