Backup game saves without root

Imago

As the title say, I need to backup the save and data files of a game from a tablet to another. The main problem is that non of them can be rooted (and also I don't want to risk bricking them) so I need a solution not involving root.

I searched the net but all the mighty apps that promises to do that without root... in the end ask for root!

Please help me!

If both tablets use the same OS, copy the files to an SD card and then to the new device.

Doesn't work, without root I can't access the folders where the app data is stored...

I don't think you are going to access files that require root.. without root. it would pretty much defeat the purpose of permissions.

it would maybe be helpful if you had more information, like what the device is, the operating system, the locations of the files etc.

The "source" tablet is a Kindle FIre 7 with Android 5 customized by Amazon, the "destination" one is an Asus Nexus 7 2nd with stock Android 6.1.

The game I want to backup is installed in the SD card but if I put that in my PC I can find some folders named after the game I want to backup but they are empty.

Wait, so I know both of the Nexus 7 tablets are rootable, as I have both versions. Honestly since the Nexus 7 is officially support by Lineage, this seems like the ideal way to go, as it would get Android 11 on that, rather than the very outdated Android 6. It runs a bit slow, but it runs.  (The conversion will wipe the device, it will also be re-partitioned, as it needs more space to fit the new version of Android.)

I don't know much on the Fire side, but pretty certain it can be rooted as well. However many times rooting will wipe your device, so be careful with that.

Have you checked into any of the adb method? (I've always been rooted, so I've never tried or needed this)

This is something I'll do when the time comes. The Amazon Fire can't be rooted as I can see.

But for now I found no way to sucessfully use the ADB method, even following all the guides online where those magician makes it look SOOOO EASY when you need some kind of MIT IT degree to do it... 🤢

Connect it to your PC and use ADB to access the files.

Which games are they? That will impact where the files are actually saved etc

Knight Assistant and Dungeons&Girls.
Both saves in the inacessible part of the storage as I can see.

No success with that method, even following step by step the guides online, it seems to refuse give me access to those files.

But I guess I'll give up, it seems that it's simply impossible.

Anyway it's unfair that the users can't transfer their own save files from a device to the other.

Devs should give us a simple way to do that, instead of using dangerous methods like rooting that could brick the device or complex, often out-of-reach for many people, command lines on some hidden programming console. 😡

BigShot Game's Extreme Job Knight's Assistant? They have a Save to Cloud/Restore option in the menu. Dungeons&Girls looks to be saving everything directly to Firebase - so it's possible if you log in via the same google account that it'll automatically bring up your existing save

Yes, that's the game but for some reason, even if I do that save to cloud, the new tablet gets no data.
Same thing with Dungeons&Girls, no data with same account on both tablets.

Thanks for the answers but at this point I will simply give up.
