First time builder forced to look for alternate parts, critiques on my alternates apreciated.

So, I posted here before with a parts list that i threw together rapidly, and wasn't very good. Someone replied to that post with an alternative that I quite liked the look of, but by the time I got around to looking at buying these parts, a few were no longer available. SO. I picked out some alternatives, trying to keep as close to the recommendations they made as possible, but my lack of knowledge on this front is making me worried about trusting these picks. So I throw this list to y'all, and hopefully you can see what I can't, or confirm I'm not about to lose a sizeable amount of my hard earned money. For reference, this is the desired computer description I had on that post:

Budget (including currency):

1500 - 2000 Usd. I'd like to keep the PC itself down to around 1500, and keep the rest for peripherals and the like.

Country:

United States

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:

It's going to be used as an everything machine. The three main points are somewhat modern games,(think more like fallout 4 and vermintide 2 than halo infinite), 3d modeling in blender, and to be capable of streaming.

Other details:

ID like to be able to run games at mid to high settings at a consistent 60fps while running other things like OBS. For resolution, I would love to reach 1440p , but something that could be moved over to 4k later down the line would be great. I don't want to go super huge on peripherals, and I have a functional mouse and keyboard already, but it would be nice to know about some better yet still reasonably priced alternatives. I'm going to be jumping from a 1650 ti (In original post I said 1080ti, Which is incorrect.) laptop to whatever I build, so no matter what I'll be seeing this as an improvement. Also, I'm going into this without any sort of OS, so recommendations on that front would be appreciated.

And here is the link:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/j9bV8r

Any help is Appreciated. I REALLY don't want to screw this up

Edit: More availability problems have changed up the list. Edit changed link.

Just made it slightly cheaper while essentially it is still the same.

Could go without an aftermarket cooler too, but that is up to you.

Overall, pretty solid build, tho the case for me is a bit meh, make sure you won't regret getting that case. Bc I've tasted the regret of cheaping out on a case.

What Issue do you see with the case? Is it an aesthetics thing, or a more integral issue?

Well, aesthetics is a part of it, but also build quality/features and room for upgrades. Just make sure that the case has everything you want or need.

Do you have any recommendations for better cases? my main thing is my distaste for RGB, and this one looked ok for that.

That's quite the change. Is there a reason for some of these upped parts? like, the peripherals I get, but the 200 extra dollars on the i5 and the 50 extra for the ssd feel hard to justify to myself.

A few thoughts...

Something to bear in mind. In my experience, Ryzen and their supporting boards are a bit funny about RAM. I had a brand-new 5900X build drive me nuts for about four months until I figured out it didn't like the RAM I used. I've seen this on at least two Ryzen systems of my own, and suspect it of a third. Others with similar issues also saw them cease on my advice.

So I would recommend consulting the board manufacturer's memory QVL for any board supporting Ryzen. Here is the link to the one for your referenced board. While it does support a few DDR4-3200 Corsair kits, the CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 in your parts list is not one of them, so you might consider choosing one from the list.

https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B550M Steel Legend/index.asp#MemoryVM

Additionally, while I myself have a Silicon Power SATA M.2 left over from a repurposed LGA1155, I think you tend to get what you pay for with components. A WD Blue SN570 is not a whole lot more, and I feel it's a better buy long-term.

I had some thoughts about the cooler, but being an 8C / 16T 65W chip, that will likely be fine, though I might recommend a Scythe Mugen 5S if you plan to run PBO or manual overclocking.

The case, I might consider one with better cooling. I can't really see whether that nice mesh front is really an air inlet or just a fancy covering for a steel panel. Though Phanteks is not known for building crap, either. It might be okay with a 65W chip and mid-tier GPU if you don't plan upgrades. But do yourself a favor and add a fan up top to blow out, that will help immensely with cooling.

As for OS, I'd stick with Win10 for the time being. I've heard about some screwy issues with Win11, and also that it's loaded with spy crap. I have nothing to hide, but what I do with my PC is none of Microsoft's damned business.

Wow, thanks for the information! Ill definitely take the SSD advice, Id rather spend $10 now to not spend a possible 50 down the line. I'm unsure about the cooler though. As stated, this stuff still looks like moon runes to me, so I have no Idea what PBO is or if ill ever need Overclocking (I've had it described to me before, But I still don't quite get it.). Would those things be important for streaming? I know at least Overclocking can be helpful in gaming situations, so does that translate to streaming? either way, thanks for the recommendations.

Could also opt for a 13400 or 12600k and cheaper z690 board. They are both faster than the 5700x by a decent bit.

Ssd I just added a standard goto the a60 is a slow drive with no cache.

Precision Boost Overdrive is fine for most folks, I think. The more demanding of us are known to do manual overclocking in BIOS, though I've heard Ryzen Master is the way to go for manual. PBO works for me, I want performance, but within reason and without compromising the longevity of the machine. I think of PBO as a 100 hp shot of nitrous when you just need a little more speed.

Not available? Amazon shows it's on backorder, but you'd get it in about 10 days. Or is their site screwed up again?

(Ordered a couple PSUs awhile back that didn't show up on time, then found out they were coming from China with no ETA. That turned to only getting one, so I had to order another one)

It said a vague "Available Soon" when i looked at it. I still have the old list, so if that one works well i'll probably do that one. but thanks for letting me know, cause yeah that would be pretty silly to miss out and stress over a non problem.

If the seller is Amazon Services LLC, that's coming from overseas. If it just says Amazon, it'd be coming from the warehouse. I would call customer service and find out what's going on.

Using y'alls suggestions, this is a possible final parts list. Hopefully no obvious glaring flaws with this one? seems to me as a viable setup, but more eyes = lower chance of failure.

Nothing wrong with this build. Although I'm not a fan of using an mATX motherboard in an ATX case.

You might consider the newer tech 13th gen Intel option. Similar performance and pricing.

How big of a difference does an i5 make in comparison? Also, I never realised the size difference lol, I'll try and find a comparable mATX case.

The mATX/ ATX thing is just aesthetics. If you can't find a good mATX case, stick with the P300A. Another option is an ATX motherboard. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/7gxbt6/msi-b550-a-pro-atx-am4-motherboard-b550-a-pro

Not many good reviews of the i5-13400F so it's hard to gauge the performance difference from the 5700X. But it does have better single core performance so should do well in gaming comparisons.

One note, the i5-13400F has both performance and efficiency cores. If Windows is the o/s, 11 is the preferred version as it does better scheduling cores.
