Linear Slow Down Progression

Go to solution Solved by hojnikb,

Just do a secure erase (make backup before).

Then restore the backup. Make sure, that AHCI is enabled and that you're not running in IDE mode. Also check if trim works with trimcheck.

Hi All,

Whenever my SSD is doing any sort of file transfer, whether that be small files or larger .exe's the entire computer slows to a near halt, Star Screen will not engage search properly, things like the control panel and any kind of process relating to the C: disk slows down to a 10-year old kind of pace. Recently, my SSD boot times have been of a slow 30-45 seconds... could this be related, and if so, do you think there are any sort of fixes that I could pursue so as to remedy this issue, as it is becoming rather problematic for my workflow.

Thanks in advance,

Jack

I'd reccomend re-formatting it, or making sure that it isn't completely full.

How full is it? What SSD is it? What read/write speeds do you get? Since when has this been happening?

Though for some reason my Windows could not do a Backup because the backup files were missing and I am using a download version (ahh well, extra time isn't much of an issue in this case), I did what you suggested and so far it is all going much much much better, the time it takes to boot has gone down to 8-12 seconds from 30-45 as it was before. Everything is working much better now. Do you think it could have had something to do with having changed out the mother board, or is this unrelated totally?
