7970 or 670

I am building a pc for friend my friend wants a evga 670 ftw 2GB ( $439 ) or Sapphire Radeon HD7970 3GB OC Vapor-X Edition ( $469 ) which one should I get?

If he doesn't need the cuda support then 7970. 7950 would be great too depending on the screen res.

 

nvidia just isn't doing great with the pricing (for me and surely others) is why I'm suggesting the 7950/7970

i would go with the Radeon 7970, it generaly performs better

I would go HD7970 faster then the 670 but it does run a little hotter and draws a bit more power but it is a great gaming card

There have been many threads about the 7970 vs 670 and 680, the 7970 seems to outperform both, especially when it comes to price.

The vapor-X one sounds cool. Id pick that one just because it sounds cool. :D

I would say at the moment, the HD 7970 would be the better choice. AMD is just killing Nvidia in price to performance right now, plus all the bundle games that you get with AMD cards are all AAA games and optimized for AMD cards.
