Hello everyone

Yesterday I bought Need for speed Shift 1 because it was on sale. But i have a strange issue with the game.

When I started the game everything worked fine, but when the first race starts, I get 4 FPS.

So I tried various different graphical setttings. Even on the lowest settings i still get 4 FPS.

I'm running i5 2500K @4.2 GHz and GTX 770 so this game should run buttery smooth.

I'm thinking it has something to do with the terrible port so is there anyone who owns this game on steam or on pc and has had the same or related issue?

I've browsed through some of the forums but that's usually people with just low end systems or people saying verify game cache, which i have already done.

Anyone able to help here?

P.S. i've tried contacting EA but their support button is broken. :/

Thanks.

List of possible solutions for some of the problems.

1. Graphicscongif.xml (1)
In C:\Users\[YourUserName]\Documents\NFS SHIFT (folder can vary n dependence of the used operating system) you usually can find the graphicsconfig.xml file. Some users report that deleting this file solved all problems. It would be best to rename or transfer the file to another location so that it can be restored easily if necessary.

2. Graphicscongif.xml (2)
Other users report that NfS Shift runs well if windowed. To activate the window mode automatically you have to open the graphicscongif.xml file with Windows Notepad (or a similar tool) and change the line
prop name="Windowed" windowed="0"
into
prop name="Windowed" windowed="1"
and save the file.

3. Shadow quality
Apparently the shadow quality causes several problems. Users report that the "Medium” settings works best.

4. Compatibility mode
Another option to work around problems is to run the game in the Windows 98/ME compatibility mode. Right click on the exe file, select "Properties” and activate the appropriate compatibility mode.

5. More tips for NfS Shift
Many users reported that doing the flowing has helped:
• Install the latest Service Pack
• Install the latest driver for the graphics card
• Install the latest driver for the sound card
• Deactivate the sidebar
• Delete the folder C:\Users\[YourUserName]\Documents\NFS SHIFT and reboot. Create a new profile and deactivate the automatic saving in the game's options.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

You'd think it would be a simple thing like a driver problem, and that changing it, it would be fixed...
