Thoughts on the 7900 xtx ? Should I return?

JR Fox

Hey everyone. After a few weeks of gaming with the new 7900xtx, I can say I am fairly satisfied with performance. Undervolting has been less than stable, but I can still pull above 200 fps at 1440p in most titles while maintaining a 95 degrees or less junction temp. My question is, in light of all of the issues that have arisen with the new AMD gpu thermals, would I be better off returning the card and buying a 4080 long term? I have about half a month left to return the card to micro center and I can’t decide if I want to or not. Any help would be appreciated and I’m excited to hear what you guys think!

Well your card seems to perform correctly, no real reason to return it

And the 4080 is normally $200 more expensive (not in Europe tho, they're kinda same price, making the 7900XTX a reaaally bad deal..)

Do you want to actually keep the card?

I am kind of indifferent either way. I don’t mind paying an extra couple hundred to know my card will last but if I don’t need to replace it I wouldn’t.

Haha yeah I think for 200 less it’s a decent card and like you said it’s running pretty good now. Just worried about long term and I know amd is giving people a hard time when trying to rma right now.
