Sudden / Random Black screen issues 3080

Happy new year folks!

I have an issue with my pc, it just randomly gives blackscreens.

My card is a Gigabyte 3080 10GB with waterblock. It has 2x 8pin Pice cables direct to Evga supernova G2 850.

The pc was built back in Feb of 2022, about 10-12 weeks into its life the problem started. It started with a Blackscreen a week to 5-6 day. These days its about 1 a day. in my testing i found that the pc is on even tho the screens are black, sound from youtube and interactions still going.

futher more i have tested with a 450w PSU just connected to the 3080, with the EVGA just for the rest of the pc. and the issue has not happend in this "not so optimal config"

I did some reading online have 3080 from gigabyte suffer from this, but how can my 450w psu fix the problem if its a GPU problem?

And can a GPU "trip" the PSU (psu cant handle the load) and not having it shut down the pc? the 12v to a GPU is the same rail and stuff as the 8pin to a CPU...?

yes. (transient powerspikes)

and your psu is known to have exactly that issue with 3000 cards.

get a new one like a corsair rmx 850.

and fyi your psu likely isnt broken , it just can't handle that kind of gpu.

no its the other way around the gpu draws a lot of power for a very short time and that trips the psu protection (unnecessarily)

As for why the pc "stays on" idk, but i actually had the same thing with a 750w bequiet psu...

Neither my Corsair rmi no my other "500w" bequiet psu have that issue.

As said the G2 is known for that issue,  and you confirmed it yourself by using another psu...

there isnt really a fix but buying another psu that doesn't have that issue

i wouldn't use that 500w psu though,  even if it works, long term that isnt a good idea imo.

okey thanks for advice and fast answer, only thing making me wonder if a new psu is the answer is the fact that the pc stays on like nothing ever happend, but screens go ZZZ
