I'm having difficulty deciding which is better for my ~~$300 budget. Is the LG 25UM64S Widescreen better or the Acer 27" 1440? Are the extra pixels worth it or the widescreen worth it? I'm looking to replace my regular 23" monitor and it must have HDMI capability that is why I am not going with the Korean IPS/PLS monitors.

I love how 16:9 is now considered 'normal' and 21:9 is referred to as 'widescreen'.

Anyway, 1440p.

The link you provided to the Acer monitor is only a 1080p.

For a $300 price point the options are the 1440p Korean monitors.

Maximum Resolution 2560 x 1440

read the specs again

Christian and Proud of it

Go for the 2560x1440. It's not a letterbox and just has way more screen room overall.

Of course the 3440x1440 monitors are another story :D

My mistake.  I was wondering what manufacturer was selling 1080p monitors over $200.

Lots...

Decent monitors cost more than that. Maybe not the budget or small ones.

Have you ever seen a 27" 1080p monitor IRL? They look terrible...

Just so you know, that LG 25" 21:9 monitor is equivalent to a 20" 16:9 display in height.
