Oh the irony... Cheap As Possible Build!

mq1991

Hello Everyone! I recently completed a cheap as possible-ish build and wanted to share. Basically, wanted to keep the price under $300. Its all kinda ironic because all this is in an nVidia case..
Specs:
Raidmax 600w PSU - $30

MSI 970A-G46 - $60
AMD FX6300 @ 4.8ghz CPU-Z Validator 3.1 - $120

8gb Team Extreme memory at 1866mhz - $36

750gb WD Blue drive - Leftover from previous computer

500gb 7200rpm laptop "games" drive - Took out of laptop before sending back to dell :P

Powercolor 7850 - $160

Hyper 212+ - $18
Gigabyte M6980 - $15
Both DVD/Bluray drives are out of another computer as well.
The blue fan I got for free at Tigerdirect.
The case is a nvidia branded cooler master. I got it for free on craigslist, and yes its missing the two blanks at the back :(
All three monitors I found and fixed. Cheap! Just a few dollars in some caps :)

Thanks guys! Well, I wanted to stay around the $300 mark total for everything. So not exactly cheap as possible, but price to performance is very good so far!

The case is the Cooler Master Elite 334 Nvidia edition.

Thanks!

Nice setup, I think it performs as well as my 1000$ build from two years ago, but prices are super expensive here :(. I'd replace at least that blue fan fan though :D.

Yeah, not such a big fan of the blue fan myself, haha just wanted to put it to use. Thanks for the comments!

It seems to be performing very well! I havent found a game a cant run at 1920x1080 (high-ultra), or 5760x1080(medium) settings. I like the multiple monitors for racing sims, but I prefer just one monitor for FPS's.

600 watt PSU for $30? I'd be scared to put that in a rig.

Haha I would be too! It was on sale down from $50 though, and its 80 plus bronze certified! I wish it was modular

Well, that sounds quite a bit more legit. I'm not sure I'd trust that to deliver 600 watts, but it's probably fine in your rig.

I hope it can! I did notice it has 2 12v rails :/ .  I cant be too dissapointed though, the girlfriend saw I was collecting parts for a computer and surprised me with it :).  Im actually getting one of those power meters from a friend today. If anyone's curious I could load up furmark and prime95 and see how many watts its using as its configured.

Nothing's wrong with multi-rail power supplies, as long as they are designed properly.
