Digital Storm has posted a look at the Ranger motherboard. It is not much it mostly just a look at the motherboard not talk about it's features. I think the motherboard doesn't look bad but I personally don't like red and black.

IMO the Ranger looks cheap, might be the huge areas of the PCB where no circuitry is visible, makes it look like a Biostar H85 board or something.

Yeah I figured, but I just think it should have been put in the "normal" range of boards rather than ROG maybe? Feels a bit odd is all.

Not really odd. Great gaming features and a gaming color scheme for a great price. There is tons of other boards in the normal range that aren't gaming orientated.

I actually agree. The new blank areas on the PCB (or at least where the traces are hidden) make the board look really cheap. Not a huge fan. They still look good  though.

That's the point. This board is meant to slip into the $150-$170 USD price slot.

That's the point. This board is meant to slip into the $150-$170 USD price slot.

 

 

I would hardly consider that a "cheap" board. If I am spending $150 or more, might as well get a Maximus. If I am trying to save money on a board, I would choose one under $100.

It's not cheap, but rather budget. And a pathetic attempt if you ask me. For the money, there is the UD5H, MPOWER SP and GD65.

I agree, ASUS boards are on the expensive side. Like you said, If I was considering a "cost effective" board, I wouldn't choose ASUS.

Maybe not cost effective, but I sure love the heck out of my ASUS boards. They're full of things you don't need, but they're things that you actually DO use. Better power delivery and whatnot.

Would be much better looking if you removed all the red. A completely black board would look awesome.The channel boards don't stand out which I like. The ROG series on the other hand...

Oh I completely agree, but in my case specifically, most of the cool features I have yet to use on my Maximus V Gene. Hell, I haven't even installed a wifi card in the expansion module. In fact, I can't even find the module, as I am ready to buy an Intel adapter :P
