AIO Choice for 7700x build.

danb8621

I am going to begin building a 7700x build tomorrow and was hoping someone could let me know their thoughts on the DeepCool LS520 240mm AIO. I am told that these new ryzens are running hotter then the prior models, I am coming from a 5800x that had a custom ZMT EK setup cpu only.  I am looking to make life a little neater with an AIO.  Just am not sure if the DeepCoolLS520 is a good fit.  I do not overclock anything and never will.

MOBO - Strix b650 -e

RAM - G Skill 6000mghz 32gb (2sticks)

GPU - Asus TUF 3080ti

PS - RM850x

Case - Antec DP502

Thanks, Happy Holidays.

The 7700x is hotter than last gen but not hot enough to need an AIO. Personally, I’d go air cooling and avoid the worry of the pump failing.

If however, your heart is set on an AIO though, any 240mm rad will be fine (overkill).

Common build advice: 1) Buy the cheapest (well reviewed) motherboard that has the features you need. Paying more typically only gets you features you won’t use. 2) only get as much RAM as you need, getting more won’t (typically) make your PC faster. 3) While I recommend getting an NVMe drive, you don’t need to splurge for an expensive drive with DRam cache, DRamless drives are fine for gamers. 4) paying for looks is fine, just don’t break the bank. 5) Tower coolers are usually good enough, unless you go top tier Intel or plan on OCing. 6) OCing is a dead meme, you probably shouldn’t bother. 7) "Bottlenecks" rarely matter and "Future-proofing" is a myth. 8) AIOs don't noticably improve performance past 240mm.

i was actually considering going Air for the first time with a noctua or a deepcool. thank you for acknowledging what i meant about running hot. I have had some other response shun me for that comment when what I meant was exactly how you phrased it....hotter then last gen.  Appreciate your response and advice.

Look at how many people say their Ryzen runs hot with an AIO. Ryzen runs cool with my air coolers.

I have a 7900x under a deepcool as500 plus and it runs 40c at idle and mid 70s under a hard load.If you want a aio those new deepcool ones are hard to beat for the price. If you want max cooling arctic cooling aios.

The Case is an Antec DP503 and it is the best.  I am coming from a lian li 011 xl with a full zmt ek cpu loop.  It was great but I needed something simpler and smaller for this build.

I have the same motherboard and ram but in white

Awesome! I am very happy with it so far I got the CPU,RAM and Mobo as a bundle from microcenter.  I have been trying to figure out how to overclock the RAM but I cant get the system to stay stable with the expo setting so im just leaving it to run at 4800mghz for now.
