First build for college

thaimango

Budget (including currency): 30,000 (PHP)

Country: Philippines

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:

  • Occasional Gaming - GTA V, Valorant, NFS, L4D2 (Let's say I am gaming for twice a week) NO STREAMING!
  • Work - zoom, google meet, obs, postman stuffs, coding, and unity

Other details:

  • Here are the list of parts that I will buy: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WWZ2Mb
  • GPU: GTX 750ti (I am just recycling this since I am not doing any hardcore gaming and it can run the games i've mentioned above)
  • Monitors: 2x 1080p@60hz
  • Storage: 1x SSD 512gb and 1x HDD 1TB (from old pc)

I am not even sure if I should go with the i3-12100 since it is much cheaper, but I go with the i5 since I am not planning to upgrade in the near future except for ram I may upgrade it to 32gb next year. Maybe after 5-8 years?

I think your IGPu is faster that Gt 750 if you want to play games pick up a used 1080 or just pickup the K variant of that CPU . or you want a all rounder semi gaming rig get a amd CPU its integrated graphics can play most games at 1080p low settings/ 720p Mid settings. i will change the rig like this https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rMvZ3y its a amd CPU no gpu build 5600G can play games here's a gameplay testing. it will be much much better than gtx 750 by a mile. if you want to add in a gpu add either a rx6600 or used gtx 1080 anything below that is basically E-waste. I added a 512 gb ssd as well even then it is less than your intel build btw if you want a gpu you can add something like this https://pcpartpicker.com/product/D9ytt6/asrock-radeon-rx-6600-8-gb-challenger-d-video-card-rx6600-cld-8g

I would go something like this and later on you have open doors for a GPU upgrade RX 6600 XT or 6700 XT.

You don't need that 750ti with this, you can do a light game with the integrated cpu.

is there a future path upgrade for AM4 (I heard that it's not possible to have an upgrade path for amd, correct me if I'm wrong)? Also, the temperature is high for Ryzen 5 3600 (my brother is using this) using a stock cooler. which gave me an impression that amd has a bad heat regulation.
P.S. if the ryzen 5 5600G is better than my gtx 750ti in terms of graphics, I might sell my old pc for an extra bucks to get a new card

Sadly, the motherboard is out of my budget and I won't do any OC. for the case and psu, it's hard to find a store that sells a huge variety of brand. thanks for recommending though

No you got wrong information intel is worse at heat management . am4 isn't get any new chips anymore that does not necceraly makes am4 a bad platform the best of the best gaming cpu is still am4 and am5 requires ddr5 and that cost a kidney or two. No new CPUs will be launched for AM4 but You can still pickup a Ryzen 9 5900X (the best allrounder in Am4) or Ryzen 7 5800 X3D(the best gaming CPU). And You have a clear path in Gpu upgrading. And the price will drop for these chips And for 5 or so years you don't really need to upgrade your cpu unless you are into Cpu Heavy  tasks. even you pickup intel they are going to kill lga 1700 later this year. even  Ryzen 7000 maybe amd next year change their word and release the cpu on a new platform you never know .  The Budget friendly option currently is Ryzen 5000. To your Fried Reapply the thermal paste and there is a small slider in side of your cooler saying HIGH LOW  change that button to High. In 99% of use cases amd stock cooler can cool an amd cpu but intel stock coolers generally fail to do so but a good cooler can fix the issue and you really cant complain for about both companies . The IGPU in 5600G (even 3250U in my laptop will beat 700 series with ease ) is faster than 700 series.

got it. since it's a less pricey processor i can squeeze in a good cooler. Tho, I'm not that heavy gaming user. so, overheating is not an issue on my end. Thanks for clarifying

if you dont want to oc or anything you can get the Motherboard @SupaKomputa suggested and get away with that.

Then you don't have to get a cooler you can upgrade that when you find that necessary.

you can upgrade to 5950x or 5800x3d in the future if you want, without changing the motherboard. this gen is still good till 3-5 years.

Ryzen is cooler than Intel in general, with hyper212 it's better.
