Non-Terrible PC speakers for $100

Coolmaster
Go to solution Solved by Coolmaster,

I figured out the issue. It turns out to be something with my motherboard's onboard audio. I plugged my speakers into my monitor's audio output and they sound fine, since that output uses the audio from the GPU. I guess if you're thinking about getting the Gigabyte X570SI Aorus Pro you should watch out for that.

I'm looking for PC speakers just to watch Youtube, movies, and TV with. All they really need to do is make people's voices sound alright, I don't care about music or bluetooth or loudness or anything. So far I've tried the Creative Pebble, Logitech Z200, and M-Audio BX3. They all had the same issue with people's voices that when they make a deep sound, it kinda doesn't go low enough and makes it sound terrible, I don't know how to exactly describe it, it happens mostly with men's voices since they're deeper.

I just want speakers that don't sound terrible when someone talks for under $100. Any recommendations?

To produce bass, something larger really does help. It's just hard for small speakers to reproduce those frequencies. I have a couple sets of the Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 Speakers I actually use them on my TVs rather than my PCs, but they actually work well. I've been able to find them on sale for ~$100. Looking around right now, they more like $110-130. A little outside your $100, but I'd take a look at them. They've been good speakers for me. (I bought a second set)

I don't think it's necessarily the bass. My tiny phone speakers don't have this problem. But thanks for the recommendation.

If you had a problem with the BX3's, I worry the problem isn't the speakers but either your PC/hardware/software or just personal expectations.

I don't know, my headphones, my phone speakers, my iPad speakers, and my laptop speakers all don't have this issue. I had the Edifier R19U that used USB for its audio, didn't have this issue, but had an issue with volume control. Maybe it's the 3.5mm jack from my motherboard? it seems like pretty simple technology so I would be surprised that it's that

Go for used studio monitors, you should be able to fairly easily find a set under a hundred and it's highly unlikely that any issues you experience will be the fault of the speakers.
