Getting a Crucial P5 Plus, want to combine volumes

Hi all! 
I'm running an Inland nvme drive at pcie 3 speeds.  I'm going to get a Crucial P5 Plus gen4 in the mail soon, and I'd like to combine volumes.  If I combined drive volumes, would that force the Crucial drive to run at gen3 speeds?
