Ethernet Disconnects

I'm currently having some issues where the ethernet for my computer will disconnect for about 5 seconds, but it will happen multiple times within a few minutes (most commonly observed when streaming). Right now, its plugged into the wall, as my router is too far away for me to connect it directly there. Is there anything else I can try before snaking a super long ethernet halfway across my house to hardwire it directly to the router? TIA!

You mean power line adapter? If thats the case, it could be interference on the electrical line caused by something with like a motor in it. 

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
